Cookie Policy

This page explains what cookies are, which ones this site uses and how you can manage your preferences, in line with the Italian Data Protection Authority's guidelines of 10 June 2021 and with the GDPR.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device while you browse. They keep pages working, remember your choices and, in some cases, gather statistics. We also use similar technologies (such as the browser's local storage) for the same purposes.

2. Necessary tools (always on)

These keep the site working and remember your choices. Under Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code they require no consent. This site sets no first-party cookies of its own: the only information stored on your device is a single local storage entry.

NameTypePurposeLifetime
jpv-cookie-consentLocal storage, first partyStores your cookie choice so the banner is not shown on every visit6 months; once expired it is removed and consent is requested again

3. Analytics (with your consent only)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the site and which content they read. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Until you give consent, Google's script is not loaded: your browser does not contact Google's servers and no cookie is created. If you consent, the following first-party cookies are set:

NameTypePurposeLifetime
_gaAnalytics, first partyDistinguishes visitors by assigning a randomly generated identifier2 years
_ga_ZEX8BXCRDZAnalytics, first partyMaintains session state for property G-ZEX8BXCRDZ2 years

The tool is configured so that your IP address is used only to derive an approximate location and is not stored by Google Analytics 4. We have not enabled data sharing with Google's advertising services (Google Signals) and no advertising account is linked. Google may also process data in the United States: the transfer is covered by the EU adequacy decision on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and by the Standard Contractual Clauses.

If you withdraw consent we stop all measurement immediately and delete the cookies listed above. Alternatively, you can install Google's browser add-on to opt out of Analytics on every site.

4. Marketing (no tool in use)

We use no advertising or profiling cookies and host no social network widgets or pixels. The «Marketing» category remains in the panel because your choice is still passed to Google as a signal (Consent Mode): until you enable it, advertising signals stay switched off. Should we introduce such tools in future, we will update this page and ask for fresh consent.

5. What we do NOT use

For the sake of transparency, here is what this site does not do:

  • Typefaces are hosted on our own systems: no request is made to Google Fonts while you browse.
  • There are no embedded videos, maps, chat widgets or social buttons setting third-party cookies.
  • We carry out no individual profiling and sell no data to third parties.

6. How to manage consent

On your first visit a banner lets you accept everything, decline everything or choose category by category. Until you make a choice, no non-essential tool is activated: closing or ignoring the banner does not count as acceptance.

You can change your mind at any time through the «Manage cookies» link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawal takes effect immediately. In any case your choice is remembered for 6 months, after which the banner reappears.

You can also manage or delete cookies and local storage from your browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and others provide dedicated controls). Clearing the site data will also erase the record of your choice, and the banner will reappear.
